I’m one of those weird people that thinks some things are more important than money. I say this all the time, but sometimes I wonder if I’m misunderstood. After chasing money for years, oscillating my spending habits between frivolity and frugality. Oscillating between accumulating debt and eliminating debt. Oscillating between living paycheck-to-paycheck, and living with a cash surplus. Having emergency expenses come up, freaking out about where the money is going to come from, only to have a relatively simple solution present itself.
I’ve come to see cash flow as what it truly is…a constantly evolving shell game. A game where you move money from place to place with the intention of accumulating enough of it to fund one’s priorities.
How much is enough? Well it depends what your priorities are, and how much money is required to fund them.
But…some things are more important than money.
Sometimes this gets confused with “throw caution to the wind” and “spend money however you see fit” which is not the case. When I talk about things being more important than money, I’m referring to the presence of something that money can’t buy.
